Education & Guidance on Laser Eye Surgery
Laser eye surgery is a procedure that involves changing the shape of the cornea to correct vision by altering the way light bends in the eye. We provide laser eye surgery consultations to educate our patients about the surgery and discuss the wide range of options.
Our practice provides in-office consultations on several laser eye surgery procedures, including LASIK, EpiLASIK, CK, PRK, PTK, Intacs, and Keratopigmentation. To learn more about these laser eye surgery procedures and to find out if you are a good candidate, book a consultation with Cherry Creek Eye.
Book AppointmentWhat to Expect During Your Consultation
The laser eye surgery consultation is all about educating our patients on surgery options and making sure you understand everything you need to know about all of the procedures we consult on.
We want to guide you through the entire process, and we are here to answer all of your questions and concerns about procedures you may be considering.
Procedures We Perform
Laser eye surgery is most commonly performed to correct vision errors and assist in providing clear vision without the use of glasses or contact lenses. That doesn’t mean that recovering from a laser eye surgical procedure means never having to wear glasses as you get older, but these procedures can be effective for correcting some vision problems.
Custom LASIK
Laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is a procedure in which a small flap is made with a surgical tool and a laser is used to reshape your cornea.
We consult on the VISX CustomVue LASIK procedure, which uses specialty technology to measure the unique characteristics of a person’s eyes. In this way, the LASIK procedure can provide results based on your unique eyes.
PRK
Photoreactive keratectomy (PRK) is a procedure that involves staring ahead at a light while the surgeon reshapes the cornea using a laser. The procedure is generally recommended as an alternative to LASIK for people with thin corneas or dry eyes.
PTK
Phototherapeutic keratectomy (PTK) is a surgical eye procedure that uses a small laser to perform photoablation to the cornea. Photoablation breaks the bonds between molecules and breaks down tissue. PTK only removes a small surface layer of corneal tissue and is generally used to treat conditions caused by corneal surface irregularities.
Keratopigmentation (Corneal Tattooing)
Keratopigmentation or corneal tattooing is a procedure most commonly used to treat patients who suffer from unwanted visual symptoms such as glare or double vision associated with iris abnormalities. This valuable treatment alternative can significantly improve a patient’s functional vision or cosmetic appearance without the use of more invasive reconstructive surgical procedures. Dr. Stuart Lewis is one of just a few surgeons in the United States who performs this procedure.
Intacs
Intacs are designed to help correct the effects of keratoconus. This procedure involves inserting a flat device deep under the cornea to flatten the central cornea and correct vision. Some people still need glasses or contact lenses after getting Intacs.
