Recommended Eye Exam Frequency
It’s important to schedule eye exams at the frequency recommended by your doctor. Your recommended exam schedule can change based on your needs.
Children should have:
- At least 1 eye exam between 3 and 5 years old
- At least 1 eye exam before first grade, and then 1 exam each year until they’re 18
Adults and seniors should have:
- An eye exam every 1–2 years between 18 and 64 years old
- An eye exam every year for those 65 and older

Each eye exam is unique to our patient’s needs, and we are here to answer any questions you may have during each step of your exam. Most patients are eligible for an eye exam without dilation. We use Optos Imaging technology.
Medical History Check
An eye exam at Cherry Creek Eye may begin with our team discussing your individual medical history. This includes asking about the medications you are taking, your family history of eye diseases and other health conditions, such as glaucoma or diabetes, and discussing any health concerns you currently have.
Vision Testing
We perform a series of eye tests to examine each patient’s visual clarity, focus, function, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, and eye movement.
The results of these tests help make it clear whether you require vision correction with frames or contact lenses and if you may have an eye condition that can benefit from treatment.
Eye Health Testing
Once the function of your vision is tested, we will also take a closer look at your overall eye health. This is done with devices that help us see many angles of the eye and check for abnormalities.
This technology also allows us to understand changes in your eyes over time and monitor specific conditions at each appointment.
Discussing Treatment
Depending on the results of your eye exam, we may recommend certain treatment options, corrective lenses, or surgical procedures to support your vision needs and long-term eye health.
